About Me
It’s always hard when someone asks for you to tell them about yourself. What exactly do they want to know?
Do they want to hear the boring facts like: My name is Blanca Del Mar, but many of you may know me as Mare. I was born in Puerto Rico on August 20, 1986, and moved to Miami at the age of 5. My father is Angel Edgardo and my mother is Blanca Iris. I have an older brother, Edgardo Lorenzo, and an older sister, Bianca Marie. I’ve lived in Dorado, PR, Miami, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, and Hollywood, Florida. Jacksonville being my least favorite of the cities I’ve lived in (no offense). 
Do they want to know more personal fun facts like: I am the best Momma to the most adorable miniature schnauzer in the world named Oliver, who looks like an old English professor (see picture to the right). I once had 11 stitches on my right little toe, and I tell people it was a shark that bit me and I punched it, but the truth is I hit my toe on a boat propeller. I am obsessed with Harry Potter and The Beatles (but who in their right mind wouldn’t be obsessed with either). My nicknames include Mare, Blanquita, Blanx, River, White River, Snow White, and the list goes on and on. I’m a bit of a flower child, and there’s nothing I love more than peace, love, and above all music! 
Perhaps they want to know my professional background facts like: I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University in December of 2009 (Go Noles), and just graduated with a Master of Science in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. During college I worked for Garnet & Gold, which is an awesome retail store for all things SEMINOLES! After I graduated I moved to Jacksonville where I worked for an amazing immigration attorney, Lisa Ruiz. For all things immigration (no matter what city/state you are in) make sure to contact The Ruiz Law Firm! Now I am working at my dream job for Sony/ATV Music Publishing in Miami, FL. 
Or maybe they just want to know why I’m such a music geek: My love for music started at a very early age. Performing for my family is one of my greatest joys, like waking up at 8 in the morning every day during a trip to the Virgin Islands, to wake everyone by singing the U.S. National Anthem or even playing the flute non-stop on a road trip from Miami to North Carolina. I’m sure my family truly enjoyed those performances (or at least they better say they did)! Music has often been my escape from reality. I get trapped in the notes and all sense of reality goes away. Music has always been my friend and it has never let me down.
